Adeline and I are big fooooodieessss but there's only so much you could try in a weekend. Depending on what you type of cuisine you'd like, here are a couple of our favorites restaurants and dishes. Let us know what you think!

East side:

  • Malaysian - Mamak
    • This is the only good Malaysian restaurant in town so we come here pretty often. "Koh Loh Wonton Mee" is my favorite here. Ask to add "curry chap" on this noodle dish. It reminds me of home. Seafood Flat Noodles aka "Won Ton Hor" is legit as well.
  • Dim Sum - Canton House
    • It's hard to compare Dim Sum in Atlanta vs Vancouver, SF, or NYC but this place is probably one of the better ones in Atlanta.
  • Cantonese - Bo Bo Garden
    • Malaysian Fried Rice aka "Balacan Fried Rice" is awesome here. Yes, it's a Canto place but for some reason they have that here. Anyway, you should try the Salt and Pepper Squid and Pork Belly stewed with pickled mustard (no it doesn't taste like mustard). Try and get a big group to come here so you can do it family style!
  • Szechuan - Sichuan House
    • This is further out of town but Adeline and I love this place. The spicy fish and cumin beef/goat is delish here!
  • Chinese Bakery - Sweet Hut Midtown
    • This bakery has three locations now. I thank God everyday that they opened up one in Midtown! Two things I always get here: Curry bun and Taro Milk Tea.
  • Bubble Tea - Kung Fu Tea
    • Famous chain for bubble tea although I bet you haven't heard of it before. We love the Original Milk Tea with grass jelly (get half sweet cause it's usually pretty sugary).
  • Indian - Tabla
    • I haven't had many good experiences with Indian food in Atlanta but this one seems legit in Yelp. Haven't tried this but I trust any 4.5 stars Yelp restaurant. Just keeping it real. :D
  • Japanese - Umi
    • I heard this is amazing but it's $$$$ on Yelp so we haven't tried it. There's an Umi in Austin that I had before and it was probably the best Japanese restaurant I ever had in America.
  • Korean BBQ - Iron Age
    • The next three places are out of town in Duluth GA. It's about 30 minutes away from town in a little Korean town.
    • Come here with a big appetite. It's an all you can eat place with K-pop blasting in the background. If you have not done Korean BBQ before, this is the place that would give you the full Korean experience!
  • Soondubu - Book Chang Dong
    • Consistently our favorite place for any tofu action. No, tofu doesn't make you softer. Stop being ridic.
  • Korean Bakery - Vincent Bakery
    • Adeline doesn't usually drink coffee, but when she do, she orders the Vincent iced coffee. If you are a hardcore coffee drinker, get the double shot espresso here. It's smooth as silk. Don't get the bubble tea here though. You'll be sorely dissapointed.

West side:

  • Tavern - Phipps Place
    • This is walking distance from the Westin Buckhead! We love the variety of chips and dips they have here. It's so good that we haven't tried anything else on the menu.
  • Local - Murphy's
    • Guinness. Beef. Brisket. Nuff' said.
  • BBQ - Fox Bros
    • Southern style BBQ with huge portions. Probably the best BBQ in town.
  • Southern - Mary Mac's Tea Room
    • Historic restaurant with plenty of southern charm. Buttermilk Fried Chicken is what I usually get here! Remember to not crush the free muffins and biscuits they give you as apps.
  • Modern European - Ecco
    • Fancy but reasonably priced restaurant. Their menu always changes with the season. You can never go wrong with Steak here. Remember to make reservations!
  • Burgers - Holeman & Finch
    • Best burger in town. They only serve a limited number of burgers and you can only get it past 10pm so first come first serve! Or you can head over the Ponce City Market anytime for it.
  • Fried Chicken - Gus's
    • Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken! They have one in Atlanta!! This is my favorite fried chicken joint ever!
  • Hipster - R Thomas
    • 24-hour restaurant where you can hang after the bars/clubs. Best drunk food in town. Plenty of vegetarian options as well.
  • Seafood - Canoe
    • Southern food in an intimate setting. The menu changes as well but you can never go wrong with the Shrimp and Grits! Reservations needed as well in this place.
  • Italian - St. Cecilia
    • I celebrated my birthday here! Come on Sunday where they have a 4-course set meal for ~$35 (I think). Everything we had here was exceptional.
  • Pizza - Antico
    • Italian-style thin crust pizza in a unique setting. Must try if you're a pizza lover!
